In everyday Marathi, Tukārām's abhaṅgas speak of devotion to Viṭhobā of Pandharpur, of honest work, and of the pride of the learned. Pilgrims still sing them on the annual Vārī to Pandharpur. A well-known story says his notebooks were thrown into the Indrāyaṇī river and came back unharmed.
